The Good News

Grace exists to tell you about Jesus!

Jesus gave us the gift of the church on earth that we might have the fellowship and support of our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ on this journey of life and faith. Jesus made it abundantly clear for us the path to salvation before He ascended into heaven. Many throughout history (and even today) have thought this path to God in heaven involves earning it through being a good person or attending worship or following the 10 Commandments. In fact, this is how our sinful nature has all of us thinking and this is why every false religion in the world is a religion of "the law" (That is, every religion, except Christianity, is about earning your way into heaven). The truth is, Jesus made in clear that salvation is God's gift to us "by grace through faith and this is not of ourselves" (Eph. 2:8-9).

Here is the Good News:

1) God loves you

God is our creator and His love is unconditional. God's love does not discriminate and He knows each of us even better than we know ourselves. He loved us even after our first parents brought sin into the world. (John 3:16)

2) You are a sinner

It is abundantly clear that we are all born "sinful" and continue to sin every day of our lives. Sin is disobeying God. Sin is choosing to do anything contrary to God. Sin began with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3) and is now a part of all of us. God also makes it clear the primary consequence of sin: "for the wages of sin is death."(Romans 6:23, Psalm 51:5, Romans 3:23, Isaiah 53:6)

3) Sin separates you from God

Before sin mankind and God co-existed in paradise together. This was God's perfect intention and desire for the existence of mankind. However, sin broke that perfect relationship and works as a wedge between us and God. We cannot overcome this barrier of sin between us and God on our own. We have a great need for God to overcome this divide on our behalf. (Isaiah 59:2

4) God sent His Son Jesus to remove that separation.

What we could never do on our own, Jesus Christ has done this for us. The due punishment for sin is death and someone has to pay this price that we have earned and incurred upon ourselves. We could never fully accomplish this. So Jesus did it for us. When He was put on the cross He bore the punishment for all the sins of mankind, past, present, and future. He took the punishment rightly due for us and paid it all Himself. By paying the price for sin and suffering the death meant for us, Jesus has in fact removed this separation between us and God. This amazing gift of Jesus is ours through faith alone. (Eph. 2:8-9, 2 Cor. 5:21, Rom. 10:9)

5) Faith in Christ Jesus

True faith in Jesus Christ means you trust in what Jesus has done for you rather than in your own efforts or works. Faith is a work of God inside of us and a gift He promises to continually work in us through the Holy Spirit by the means of grace.
