Our Beliefs

We Believe

We believe the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God. We believe this is the primary way God has revealed Himself to us. We believe Jesus is the very Son of God, crucified, died, and risen for the payment of our sin, and the victory of eternal life for all who have faith in Him.

What about Being Lutheran?

We believe our relationship with God and our reliance upon Him can be summarized by three phrases that were a special part of the Lutheran Reformation of the 1500s. Grace alone. Faith Alone. Scripture Alone.

Grace alone: For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. We fall short. We sin. God loves us unconditionally. We don't deserve it. We haven't earned it. By grace, grace alone, does God fill our lives with his gifts and riches for the sake of Jesus.

Faith alone: We believe that we cannot by our own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ our Lord or come to Him. We believe that sin is so corrupting in our nature that we are incapable of any good apart from God and the work of the Holy Spirit in us. It is only by faith, faith alone, that we can be saved. Faith worked in us by the Word of God and His Sacraments.

Scripture alone: The Bible, all 66 books, is the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God. We believe the Bible is God's Word and does not merely contain it. We believe the Bible is God's revelation of Himself to us and not merely the recorded words of fallible human beings. God reveals to us in the Bible His plan of salvation for us which we call the Gospel. The Bible is absolute truth on all matters upon which God speaks.

Why is Grace a part of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod denomination?

We believe joining together with other Christians is important for us all when it comes to our growth in the faith. For our congregation to be joined together with other congregations is for the mutual support, encouragement and accountability that we need. It is likewise important for individual Christians to be a part of congregations where they too can receive that support and accountability. In this Synod we can hold one another accountable to teaching the truths of God's Word. We can support the schools and seminaries of the church where the future workers of the kingdom receive training. We can share in resources for growth, for the showing of mercy in times of need, and the spread of the Gospel to all nations.

Our Mission

We are here:

To impact the community of Monroe, Southeast Michigan, and beyond. It was Jesus who created the idea of the Church and encouraged Christians to continue gathering. It was Jesus who has given all the Church the mission to "make disciples of all nations." It was also Jesus who gave us the command to love one another as He has loved us.

We want to help you:

To proclaim God's grace through faith and love.

We want you to hear of God's grace as you grow in the one, true faith. We believe this happens through the hearing of the Word of Christ. We gather around that Word regularly in worship and study and invite you to join us.

We want you to join with us in proclaiming God's grace through love. Jesus has given us amazing gifts and has charged us with sharing these gifts, beginning with His love, to the nations.

We want to hear from you:
